What to wear to work
Fresh looks for your work wardrobe
Even if you work in a corporate environment, the rules have changed and you can be more expressive in the way you dress.
I often write about work wear and the importance of looking put together to raise your profile at work, feel confident and make a good impression. Everyone has to get dressed every day and it should be fun whilst also benefitting your personal image at work or play.
But what do women want from their work wardrobe? In my experience, the perfect wardrobe is multi-occasional, comfortable and easy to wear as well as expressing who you are. With these points in mind, I have brought together some items from the high-street and designer brands that are a more interesting way of wearing classics (pencil skirts with spring knits) or bring in new trends (patterned trousers and statement jackets).
Pencil skirts and light knits
Try pairing a bright or metallic pencil skirt with one of this seasons light knits for a look that plays with texture and gives you a different office look.
Team any of the above with one of these spring knits - colour clash as you like or keep it tonal for straighter office environments. The bright dandelion cable knit from Jaegar or the cream chunky from Reiss would look fabulous with the gold skirt. Try the sea green bubble jumper with the pink skirt from whistles for a colour clash that doesn't bore or offend.
Try some of the new season patterned trousers at work. They are comfortable, interesting and look smart and stylish. Wear with a plain tee-shirt, smart jacket (see below) and high heels. These would all take you from day to-night really well, just slip off the smart jacket and add a statement necklace or earrings and clutch bag.
This year there have been many takes on the classic Chanel style jacket with Zara leading the field. Their shop floor is awash with the Chanel look and almost everywhere in the shops now you will be able to find the statement jacket.
The great thing about the statement jacket is how versatile it is. Wear it with your patterned or slouchy trousers or over a dress or with jeans shorts or skirts. Multi occasion and on-trend.
Hopefully you will take some inspiration from my spring wardrobe tips and enjoy some new looks for work. Be amazing at what you do and look good whilst doing it!
