How to wear a leather skirt

Lovely Leather, cakes and bread! I'm extremely excited this week, finally Graveney and Meadow, a brand new buttery bar and bakery is having its grand opening in Tooting!!  I'm excited because it's an independent coffee shop, a breath or fresh air and importantly, a place where you can buy exquisite cakes for kids/gifts or indeed yourself and freshly baked bread!

Cupcakes arrive in Tooting

Cakes aside and back to the theme of my post, I am in love with leather skirts at the moment AND you can get just about any colour in the shops right now - one of the best A/W trends in my opinion. Sooo versatile, you can be a sophisticated lady with an edge or dress it right down with pumps.  The thing with this trend though IS, wear a leather skirt with anything sequined on your top half and you somehow veer straight into barmaid territory - I'm talking old skool barmaid territory here or Bet Lynch land, and that's not a great look unless it's ironic... Same goes with anything animal print or satin in which case you can catapult yourself straight back to the 80's which looks bloody brilliant but can easily be done wrong!!

I've taken one BLACK leather skirt and suggested THREE looks you can do with it.

1) First up is 'ladylike/Drinks Party/Cocktail Hour ' and involves delicate heels and a heavily patterned stylish blouse from Toast

2) Second look is 'Nordic Style' and has a cute Topshop bobble hat, nordic 'the killing' style jumper from Whitestuff, chunky La Redoute ankle boots and grey wool tights

3) Final look is 'Casual', great for the school run and stopping off for a cheeky coffee, this look has a plain grey sweatshirt but is ramped up with Next's blue glitter pumps - gorgeous!
