Wedding Guest Outfits, 3 Ideas To Dazzle
3 Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas
It's wedding season again and as I write it is super hot outside so clearly summer has well and truly arrived. I am also slightly sunburnt from my son's Sports Day yesterday, the day when I annually turn into one of those overbearing competitive mothers shouting a bit too loudly at the boys to run faster and obviously forgetting to bring any sunblock.
Back to wedding outfits, now there are a few things to consider when choosing the perfect outfit for a wedding. Are you going to be walking on grass (no stilettos), is it a formal wedding in a stately home, or a more relaxed venue like a converted barn or marquee, in the City or in the Country etc... Paying attention to these details should help you choose the right outfit and make sure you feel comfortable and fabulous on the day.
So, last year I chose outfits that you can wear again to other events like summer parties or BBQ's. This year I am focussing more on stand-out outfits, outfits that I suspect no-one else will be wearing but actually, it turns out you can also wear these at future events - stylish AND frugal, a great combo!
Outfit #1 - Town Wedding, Trendy, Formal
These lace shorts from Chloe available at Matches Fashion will definitely turn heads. The more classic and traditional dressers among you may find the idea of wearing shorts to a wedding a bit Avant Garde but these are a lovely unique choice for the more fashion adventurous. Pair with metallic heels like the Stella McCartney ones below and a nude silk blouse, topped off with a simple glittery hair clip and maybe a blow-dry or an 'up-do' to finish it off at Hereshon's Blow-Dry Bars.
Outfit # 2 - Relaxed Venue, Town Wedding, Country Wedding
This next outfit is a very feminine and sexy choice. A beautiful silk lace slip dress like this one by Meadham Kirchhoff at My-Wardrobe.com which could be worn with a silver sandal too. I would choose a strappy sandal, nothing too chunky or it will look unbalanced with the flimsy fine dress. Add a navy, powder blue, dove grey, nude or pink blazer over the top for the church.
To finish the outfit off you need a beautiful headpiece or hat and I recommend you head to bespoke milliners, Lomaxandskinner. Based in Brighton but covering most of the UK, they can make the perfect headpiece to match your outfit!
Outfit # 3 - Country Wedding
Now this is an English classic - the pretty floral dress. If the wedding you are going to is in the country this is a good choice and you can wear it to SO many events afterwards, BBQ, Picnic, Evening Drinks, Sunday Lunch, the list goes on. I would wear white sandals with these dresses and complete the outfit with a beautiful matching headpiece from Lomax and Skinner.
So there you have my three Wedding Guest Outfits for the season. The Floral dress is probably the most traditional choice but there are hundreds out there to suit very different style personalities. One of the ASOS dresses above is in a neon print so would be great for a more daring guest.
