Have you noticed the chill in the air and started to tentatively morph your summer wardrobe into autumn yet? What are you going to buy? How do you plan it? If you are one of those people who purchase your autumn wardrobe in late august then hats off to you! If I buy early, by the time it’s cold enough to wear it it feels old and I end up buying more. I find it’s best to try and pull together ideas for outfits on a mood board first and try and get it all in one hit. Pinterest is so easy to use and helps to focus on what to buy. Trawling the shops to source these items in annoyingly time consuming, particularly irritating if you hate shopping in the first place but needs must - we all have to get dressed every day and we all need to look put together at work. So this week on the blog I’ve pulled together three key looks to update your wardrobe that are smart, polished, on-trend and stylish!

Head-to-toe tonal colours in loose cuts, specifically camel or beige are a big trend, chiffon loose dresses and leather trousers. Leather trousers specifically are HUGE for the new season and I’m a massive fan. I’ve just ordered these faux leather leggings from NEXT for only £26 and I can confirm they are great. The blogger Anneli Bush looks fantastic in them below. They are easy to pull-on and look good quality despite the cheap price - I got a size 10 and they do fit. Often you have to go a size up in leather leggings but these fit true to size.

  1. Leather leggings/trousers faux or real

These straight cut copper leather trousers at M&S are excellent! I love them with this simple cream silk blouse and court shoes.

Hush always do great leather leggings at the higher price of £345.

2. The next look is head-to-toe tonal colours, specifically in camel, beige or cream. Very classy, elegant and slimming. Massimo Dutti are a great brand for tailoring and more low-key /classic pieces. I’ve chosen these wider cut trousers that would well on a lot of body shapes and the belt finishes them off beautifully.

Finish with these gorgeous brown leather over the knee boots. These boots are also excellent with midi skirts or jumper dresses - or over jeans.

3. The third and final look I love for autumn is a loose chiffon dress worn with long boots. These travel really well so i you travel for work a lot then consider a couple of these. Rixo London has such a massive range of autumnal chiffon midi dresses. I’m also a massive fan of BASH dresses - here’s my recent edit of other dress options on an earlier blog post.
